Getting to Normandy...
By Ferry
There are many choices for a channel crossing.
- Newhaven to Dieppe is 2 hours by fast ferry, and 4 hours by larger car ferry.
- Portsmouth to Le Havre has daily and nightly crossings, on the largest ferrys crossing the channel. Ferry companies usually offer atractive rates to Britons owning a home in France.
- Dover to Calais is the shortest sea route available. The service runs 24 hours a day, and Calais is only 2 hours drive from Dieppe.
By Rail
The opening of the channel tunnel means there is a regular alternative to the Dover - Calais ferry. If you want to bring your car, but don't like the boats, just put it on the train. Dieppe is 2 hours drive from Calais.
By Air
It is possible to fly to one of many small airfields in Normandy direct from airports in the UK. It is worth noting that Bauvais airport is fast becomming a major hub for low-cost airlines. This is very convenient, as it is only just over an hour's drive from Dieppe.
